Samsung Electronics and affiliate Samsung Electro-Mechanics have agreed to team up in creating a joint venture that will create light-emitting diodes. The company, initially called Samsung LED, will be launched this April.Just last year, the global LED industry raked in $22 billion, and is expected to grow further in the coming years. National Semiconductor has now successfully develop a LED controller that would eliminate flicker during a full-range dimming of LED lights. Their LM3445 will enable consumers to replace high power consuming halogen bulbs with LEDs in homes and any other application. About 140,000 existing streetlights will be replaced in a five-year project in the Los Angeles. The funding would come from former president Bill Clinton's charitable foundation. The LED streetlights would cut the power usage of the current streetlights to about 40 percent that could save $48 million in the first 7 years and $10 a year succeeding.Link: Rapid Electronics - Los Angeles to switch on 140,000 LED street lights

Demand green energy surely has paid off for South Korea, which has become a pioneer in LED lighting. To illustrate, South Korean companies that are engaged in production found their stocks valued at least 50% greater than their values a few months ago. Now the big question: How much growth is too much? Can the demand for LED products keep up with the price of stocks or is this just another bubble in formation--The Green Bubble?
